But no less impressive than his sporting prowess is his impact beyond the judo mat as a role model for inclusion and resilience. Through his successes, Sloot is quickly becoming an inspiration in his native Haarlem in the Netherlands and beyond, a testament to the power of determination.
\n\n
From local to global star
\n\n
It was clear early on that Sloot had something special. Classified in the J1 Para Judo category for athletes who are wholly or nearly blind, he was training and competing alongside sighted judoka at just 15 years of age.
\n\n
Guided by former Olympic judoka Daniëlle Gommers-Vriezema at the Kenamju sport centre in Haarlem, Sloot’s progress through local and national events was so fast that, in 2025, he made his international debut at only 18 years old. That was when he travelled to Astana, Kazakhstan, for his first-ever appearance at the IBSA (International Blind Sports Federation) Judo World Championships, where he took home a bronze medal in the J1M -64 kg category.
\n\n

\n\n
But what makes Sloot an ideal Access to Sport partner isn’t just his already impactful achievements on the mat. He has built a formidable reputation as an inspiration to others, too, both as a role model for budding Para sports athletes and as a symbol of perseverance and inclusivity. Sloot has been featured on the Dutch television programme “Je Zal Het Maar Hebben”, which encourages empathy and community by asking viewers to imagine themselves in the subject’s shoes. Importantly, his growing public profile has enabled Sloot to offset his expenses in travel, training, equipment, and other specialized needs through crowdfunding.
\n\n
As an Access to Sport partner, Sloot will enjoy the strategic backing and collaboration of SALTO FOUNDATION, an initiative that actively supports high-potential para-athletes around the world, promoting accessibility, visibility, and opportunity for all.
\n\n
In joining SALTO FOUNDATION’s elite ecosystem of world-class athletes, his determination and motivation will no doubt play a key role in our mission of breaking down barriers, empowering the next generation, and leveraging sport to build community.
\n\n
To learn more about SALTO FOUNDATION, our programmes, and the para-athletes we collaborate with, click here.
"},"relationships":{"image":{"relationships":{"imageSrc":{"uri":{"url":"/sites/free2move.org/files/2026-03/seb-sf-news-list-image.jpg"},"sizes":[{"xl":null,"l":"https://cms.free2move.org/sites/free2move.org/files/styles/breakpoint_1360/public/2026-03/seb-sf-news-list-image.jpg?itok=UqisCjnV","m":null,"s":null},{"xl":"https://cms.free2move.org/sites/free2move.org/files/styles/breakpoint_1920/public/2026-03/seb-sf-news-list-image.jpg?itok=SwejleLc","l":null,"m":null,"s":null},{"xl":null,"l":null,"m":null,"s":"https://cms.free2move.org/sites/free2move.org/files/styles/breakpoint_376/public/2026-03/seb-sf-news-list-image.jpg?itok=5SfkCzvo"},{"xl":null,"l":null,"m":"https://cms.free2move.org/sites/free2move.org/files/styles/breakpoint_769/public/2026-03/seb-sf-news-list-image.jpg?itok=GtsnwrwV","s":null}]}}},"videoBlock":{"embed":null,"videoModalImageAlt":null,"relationships":{"videoModalImageSrc":null,"videoMp4":null,"videoWebm":null}}}},"allPosts":{"nodes":[{"nid":270},{"nid":269},{"nid":268},{"nid":266},{"nid":265},{"nid":264},{"nid":262},{"nid":261},{"nid":260},{"nid":255},{"nid":254},{"nid":253},{"nid":241},{"nid":240},{"nid":239},{"nid":238},{"nid":236},{"nid":225},{"nid":223},{"nid":224},{"nid":166},{"nid":164},{"nid":163},{"nid":161},{"nid":151},{"nid":152},{"nid":147},{"nid":146},{"nid":145},{"nid":144},{"nid":143},{"nid":139},{"nid":138},{"nid":137},{"nid":117},{"nid":35},{"nid":37},{"nid":41},{"nid":118},{"nid":119}]}},"pageContext":{"id":"d05e2881-3a74-55c0-b015-0b62be4281b9","nodeId":270,"siteId":"free2move_default","siteLang":"en","siteCode":"org","siteFolder":"en-org","isInSitemap":false,"nodeMetadata":null,"breadcrumb":{"location":"/en/news/salto-foundation-welcomes-seb-sloot-access-sport-family/","crumbs":[{"pathname":"/","crumbLabel":"Home"},{"pathname":"/en","crumbLabel":"en"},{"pathname":"/en/news","crumbLabel":"news"},{"pathname":"/en/news/salto-foundation-welcomes-seb-sloot-access-sport-family","crumbLabel":"salto-foundation-welcomes-seb-sloot-access-sport-family"}]}}},
